Module 3: Natural Mulching

  • Demonstrated mulching with crop residue, cotton stalks, and castor husks.

  • Reduced weed growth, retained moisture, and cut labor.

Numerical Impact (2024–25, across 5 villages)

  • Farmers adopting: ~1,120 (≈34% of Krishi Mitra farmers)

  • Total area mulched: ~3,400 acres

  • Labor saved: ~15,000 hours/month during peak weeding season

  • Soil moisture: Improved by 10–15% (probe-based readings)

  • Yield impact: 12–14% higher yields in cumin, millet, and castor plots

Village-wise adoption

  • Lanva – 240 farmers, 700 acres mulched

  • Chanasma – 310 farmers, 950 acres mulched
